I'm Possible

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
Therefore, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
Because, "if God is for us, who can be against us." - Romans 8:31

Though many of us have read these words, time and time again, the odds are that many of us still struggle to really believe them. I would propose that the reason for such a struggle has less to do with our belief in God’s capability, but more so to do with a lack of belief in our own.

Throughout our Lenten sermon series, The Return, our goal is to pull back the covers and expose the things in our life that keep us from stepping into our true identity as children of God. We want to reveal the lies that many of us are living by, so that, we can step into the truth Jesus brings. And what greater lie do we face then the lie that we aren’t good enough?

Below you’ll find a link to a video that we would like to offer you as a form of encouragement and inspiration to tackle this challenge.

In the video you’ll find the inspiring testimony of celebrity photographer, Jeremy Cowart. As Jeremy describes in the video, he didn't always believe he was capable of achieving any of the successes he has. In fact, Jeremy says the main narrative that would describe his early years would be the words, “I can’t.” But, what changed the game for him was the way his parents met this idea with Philippians 4:13. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Now, a couple disclaimers and warnings: (1) The video is 25 minutes long, but worth every single moment (tissues are recommended). (2) There is one brief difficult/graphic story Jeremy shares about what he learned photographing the victims of the Rwandan genocide. (3) Besides offering encouragement, the video is also meant to raise awareness for his mission projects. Although highly inspiring, the Beaches Vineyard is not currently a partner in these projects. (4) His extreme success shouldn’t intimidate you - the point is to locate your deep desire and let it out, regardless of its impact
