I go and watch sunsets at least once a week to be reminded of the fact that there is a bigger story than me. I am reminded that there is an infinite God of Love, Compassion and Mercy that commands the universe! And yet, in the midst of all his greatness He tells me that, “I am as close as breath.” It is a mystery really how Christ can be so big and so intimate all at the same time. Often, I try to wrap my head around the fact that this world is filled with both great wonders and great suffering. Yet, we have a God who chooses to come near to us in all circumstance. He tell us that nothing can separate us from his love.
As I have followed Jesus I find that I wrestle with so many questions and so many of his promises. I have often questioned his goodness in the midst of suffering. I try to earn the Love that he freely and has lavishly poured out on me. I forget that there is a story that is bigger than me. This prayer is one that I pray for myself, and others, on a regular basis. It grounds me back into what is really important. I want to know Love that surpasses knowledge. I want to be filled with the fullness of God. This prayer is what God often uses to lift my head and re-focus me back on Him.
Where in your life do you struggle to trust in God’s love?
What have you been believing about God, yourself, and/or others that has separated you from His love?
How does God bring you back to himself?
