How do we follow the person of Jesus with the myriad competing priorities and distractions bombarding us in today's world? A life of discipleship is more than knowing about Jesus - it involves walking alongside him amidst the minute-to-minute and hour-to-hour details of family, friends and work. No matter where we live, how do we walk alongside Jesus, with committment, sacrifice and suffering? And how do we walk alongside others with love and humility, learning from and with each other?
Andy and Mardi Steere were members of Beaches Vineyard from 1999-2005, and have committed their lives and family to loving and serving people in the resource-poor world with Christ's love. They have lived in Kijabe, Kenya on the edge of the Rift Valley as missionaries since 2011. Mardi is a pediatric emergency physician, caring for children from poor and marginalised communities and equipping East African health care workers with education and training. Andy is an engineering consultant and theological educator, assisting African church leaders with project delivery and training pastors. Their children Riley (2007) and Liam (2008) enjoy reading, piano and drums, visiting sick children at the hospital and making trips to the local dukas (markets). They attend school at Rift Valley Academy, making friends from Africa and beyond. For more information visit their website at www.steeres.com or www.facebook.com/steeresinkenya
