In John 16 we are told that right before his death and resurrection, Jesus informs his disciples that all things he's about to endure will take place for their benefit because through this they will receive the Holy Spirit. Then later, it's recorded in the Book of Acts that after his resurrection and before his ascension, Jesus instructs his disciples to not leave Jerusalem until they receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit.
In reading these stories, have you ever asked yourself the question, why? Why did Jesus think the Holy Spirit was worth having and why was the Spirit so important for his followers to receive before they went out on their mission?
Join us this Sunday as we explore this question, and more, in our new sermon series: Third Person. Through this series, we'll seek to examine the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus' followers, and the ways we can begin to open ourselves to the Spirit's presence and leading.
