“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” - Romans 12:1
In my opinion, one of the best qualities a person can have is authenticy. I love it when people are the real deal - the genuine article. They might be completely different from me - look different, dress different, like different things - none of that matters. It’s a beautiful thing to see someone who is uniquely and wonderfully themselves.
Because of my appreciation of all things authentic, I get very intrigued when I read Romans 12, and see that Paul is talking about a true and proper worship. Yes! Sign me up - that’s what I want!
Then he does something that just messes with my comfort zone - he says that true and proper worship comes at a cost - it requires us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. The last time I checked a sacrifice has one job description - to be consumed. Could it be that authentic worship is more than music and singing songs? Could it be that worship is a life consumed by the Spirit of God?
Join us this Sunday as we explore the topic: Consumed - Experiencing the Spirit through Worship.
I look forward to seeing you there!
