Stage 2: Design and Demolition

Temporary Accommodations (Stage 1: cont)

Safety is still our greatest concern in the building. Due to safety issues several rooms will remain closed off. Rick Van Doran and his crews have erected temporary walls in the Children’s Ministry and the children have painted the walls with their hands and feet. Our children are settling and making their temporary home feel like home, it’s a beautiful sight. Others are shifting and using multiple spaces. We are working on getting designated spaces for all of our functions but spaces may be shared as the project proceeds. So, please pardon the dust...

Design

The love and vision of our new home has reached far and deep. After carefully reviewing all the input and functionality issues, we have communicated our vision for our new home to our architects. The architects, Jim McCue and Associates are working hard on getting our plans back to us by May 7th so we can submit them to Atlantic Beach for approval. The building inspector has until May 28th to review and return our plans. We will be pulling permits and getting bids for the construction during this time and starting construction directly after.

We are aware of the difficulties of reading in the main theatres and we are currently working with lighting experts as to the best way to get additional lighting in all of our theatres. We will be adjusting and adding lighting in the coming weeks so please be patient as we work to correct this issue. Lighting designs are also being developed for the small theatre as well as the future dock and children’s ministry.

Demolition

Demolition has already begun. The middle bar in the lobby was removed and replaced with a beautiful mosaic of our Beaches Vineyard logo. One of our own young artists, Michael Bell, designed and led the work on the mosaic. Many thanks go out to all that helped with the tile layout and the mortaring. This was a true labor of love.

We also removed 120 theatre chairs from the small theatre as well as all the screws that were anchoring them. We will be patching the holes and repainting the floor. Non fixed seating gives us the diversity to use this space for multi-functions and opens the space to community use.

No further demolition has been scheduled at this time but will be the first stages of construction in the weeks to come.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
