Stage 3: Construction

Temporary Accommodations (Stage 1: cont)

Safety is still our greatest concern in the building. Due to safety issues several rooms will remain closed off. Our nursery will remain in the front of the building and our children will still meet in the room that Rick Van Doran and his crews erected.

Our children are settling and making their temporary home feel like home, it’s a beautiful sight. Others are shifting and using multiple spaces. We are working on getting designated spaces for all of our functions but spaces may be shared as the project proceeds. So, please pardon the dust…

Design (Stage 2: cont)

We continue to feel out our new home. In most cases you build your home before you occupy the house. We are living and constructing ours, which takes great patience as space designs and use change over time. The love and vision of our new home continues to reach far and deep and we appreciate all the input. We continue to accept bids for the construction during this time.

We are aware of the difficulties of reading in the several of the theatres and are currently working with electricians and lighting experts to install the best lighting possible. We will be adjusting and adding lighting in the coming weeks so please be patient as we work to correct this issue.

Demolition

Demolition continues and will get bigger as Stage 3: Construction begins. So far, the middle bar in the lobby was removed and replaced with a beautiful mosaic of our Beaches Vineyard logo. We have removed 120 theatre chairs from the small theatre as well as all the screws that were anchoring them. We will be patching the holes and repainting the floor. Non fixed seating gives us the diversity to use this space for multi-functions and opens the space to community use.

Stage 3: Construction

We have finally received our building permits and begin true construction on 7/23. Great thanks go out to our volunteer work groups who have helped with clearing out the back theatres.

Construction has started. Our concrete cutters are cutting both the inside and outside for plumbing and our plumbers are installing all the rough plumbing for the bathrooms and sinks in the back theatres. Our concrete cutters will also be cutting openings for our new exit doors out of the Children’s Ministry area and from The Burn Theatre and from The Dock. Upon completion and inspection of the rough plumbing our concrete subcontractor will come in and level out our floors, they slope 10 inches, in the back theatres.

The following is a simplified plan of construction and will be modified, updated and explained as the processes take place:

  1. Cut cement and door openings
  2. Install plumbing
  3. Level the floor
  4. Frame the rooms
  5. Fire, HVAC, Electrical Trades
  6. Drywall
  7. Painting
  8. Finishing Touches

Vineyard Kids wing is finished and operating! We are currently putting the artwork on the walls and developing our themes, please feel free to drop in to the classrooms and see the amazing work being done by our gifted helpers!

Renovations on the Dock are awaiting funds.

Renovation of the front patio community area is now under construction!

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
