We believe that Jesus has invited us into a journey of becoming. Becoming who we think we could actually be and who Jesus says we are. There are some questions that are essential to this process of becoming. Questions like: Who is God? Who am I? Who has God created me to be? Where am I and what is God doing in the world around me? How can I position myself to continue to grow spiritually? These are the essential questions of spiritual growth. They're questions that we want to explore together as a community. That's why we've put together what we're calling "Essentials."

Essentials will happen four nights a year on a Wednesday from 6:30-8:30pm. Each Essentials will feature 2 sessions for adults, plus age-appropriate sessions around the same material for 1st-2nd Graders, 3rd-5th Graders & Middle School age students. Check out our events page to see when the next Essentials night will be.

There are four essential sessions that we will be offering over the course of the year.

WHO AM I? If our thoughts and actions flow from our belief about who we are and what we are made for, then it is of central concern that we seek to understand who we truly are — our passions, our fears, our deep desires, the presence of God within it all. But with so many distractions and competing voices and constructed images: who am I, really? Join us as we seek to understand this question and discern God’s voice in answering.

WHAT AM I DOING TO GROW SPIRITUALLY? For a couple of thousand years, spiritually-minded followers of Christ have sought to understand how to position themselves and their communities for true spiritual transformation. Not for “sin-management,” self-help, or high moral standards, but for that almost unnameable transformation that Jesus called being “born again.” It’s a process that takes a lifetime and requires our full devotion. Join us as we consider some of these ancient practices that can lead to life and more life.

WHO IS GOD? We can want to change, we can hope to change, we can try to change, but God is the ultimate Change-Agent, the Mover, the Shaper. And sometimes we experience God so profoundly and so deeply. And other times God can feel so very far away. Join us as we consider some essential questions of human existence — who is God, can God be known, does God know me?

WHERE AM I? True spirituality, as the Scriptures describe, is always a movement from head to heart to feet — an internal transformation that leads to profound external change. God wants to heal us, yes, but God has also invited us to participate in the healing of the whole world. Join us as we consider together, where Am I, today? What are the invitations and opportunities right in front of me to join God in the healing?
