Pause

Pause_web.jpg

We all strive to focus our undivided attention on God, to connect with Him and really feel His presence. But, in our increasingly busy lives it takes determination to actually slow down and achieve this. We would like to create a space as a community of believers to experience God on a deeper level.

Join us on the first Thursday of every month for Pause. This is a monthly gathering where we engage in a variety of spiritual practices that followers of Jesus have engaged in throughout the centuries to connect with the source of life.

BVC401

BVC401_web.jpg

In Psalm139.13-14, we are told that we have been "fearfully and wonderfully made" by God our Father. To be fearfully and wonderfully made not only means that we have, and are, being formed by God's great love, but that our formation has a purpose.

Have you ever wondered how God has specifically shaped you to live out his kingdom purposes?

In BVC 401 we'll engage in the exploration of this topic through the use of some tools and resources that will help aid us in better understanding how we've been uniquely made. This next installment of our Core classes will be held on Monday, November 5th, from 6:30-8:30PM. Childcare will be available with registration below.

Before the class, please take the test on spiritual gifts and your personality test. Bring your results with you to the class.

Ocean Baptisms

Ocean_Baptisms_thumb.jpg

Join us at the beach for lunch with friends and family. Chicken and hot dogs will be provided. All you have to do is bring a side to share. Then, afterwards we will celebrate our brother's and sister's public declarations of faith in Jesus Christ!

We will be meeting at shelters #1 & #2 in Hanna Park. Click here for a map. Cost for entry into the park is $5 per vehicle, so be sure to carpool! If the cost of entry will keep you from joining us, please let us know and we will help you out!

So what are baptisms about anyway? Baptisms are a public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ and of our decision to follow and serve Him as Lord, and as such, it serves as a sign of our entrance into the fellowship of His church.  It is also a very meaningful and powerful symbol of what God has provided for us in Jesus: the forgiveness of our sins and the promise of everlasting life. You can read more about baptisms by downloading our booklet on baptisms here.

If you would like to be baptized, sign up below or fill out an information card and leave it in one of the dropboxes at church.

BVC201 Part 1

BVC201_web.jpg

The world has a rhythm and our lives are a dance in response to it. In our current cultural moment, most of us would agree that this rhythm is rapid, staccato — busy, full, crammed, we find ourselves rushing from one thing to the next, hoping that God will join us in our hurry. But our spirits tell us there is a different rhythm that can be heard, if we would only listen for it — a way to dance with God, not live for God, something deeper than a vague awareness of God’s love and presence.

Come join us in our second Beaches Vineyard Core Class where we will consider some of the spiritual practices followers of Jesus have pursued over the centuries to develop new life rhythms, deeper experiences of the presence of God.

You are invited to BVC201, which will take place in two sessions — September 24 & October 1 at 6:30pm, here at Beaches Vineyard. We’ll discuss spiritual growth on a number of levels through the lens of Christian spirituality — prayer, community, scripture, stewardship. Even if you missed BVC101 you are more than welcome to join.

Potluck Brunch

Potluck_Brunch_web.jpg

We’re having a community-focused Sunday where we’ll celebrate with a potluck brunch.

But what’s a potluck, you ask? Well, it means that everyone will need to bring a brunch-like dish large enough to feed approximately 2 families. The church will provide donuts and coffee (sorry, we stole your last minute run to the donut shop idea.)

We’re going to eat together, get to know each other even better, and hear about some ways we can continue partnering with and supporting our church community and their needs.

Church will start at our normal time of 10am. Kids will have their own brunch gathering in their sections where food will be provided by the church.

See you there!

BVC101 is the first of our core classes. It covers our history, vision and values. A light dinner will be provided and childcare is available. Scroll down to let us know if you're coming!

So, what are core classes? They are classes that we created in hopes to provide the necessary tools to complete the journey of learning to live freely and lightly in the presence of God.  We’ll discuss spiritual formation and experiencing the presence of God and finding our place in God’s story — what do do with our passions and our lives and our resources. There will be space for reflection, for creating new life rhythms, new ways of being and living. These classes will overlap with each other in a circular fashion, so you are welcome to jump in at any time. It’s our hope that all of us, our whole church, will move through these classes together so that we can continue on this journey of learning to live freely and lightly in the presence of God.
